An Introduction
the start of a new adventure
Hi there, and hello! My name is Laura Crehuet Berman. I wear many hats, pretty much all at the same time.
I am an artist, professor, and mother. I actively research color, am endlessly fascinated by the earth and its environs, and create luminous, abstract artworks, mostly on paper.
A native of Barcelona, Spain, and based in Kansas City, USA, my work is collected and exhibited internationally. I am a Professor at Kansas City Art Institute, where I have taught printmaking, book arts, and color studies since 2002.
In 2024, I will be working as a Fulbright Scholar at the Centre for Creative and Cultural Research at the University of Canberra, Australia. During this time, I will expand my research about color, material studies, and printmaking through the lens of contemporary art.
This collection of musings from my studio begins as I arrange travel plans, gather art supplies, and pack as few suitcases as possible for my and my family’s journey to Australia.
These posts are listed in reverse chronological order, and reading them will give you an inside look into my travel, research, and art. I look forward to sharing these experiences with you.
